Symphony to debut Jimmy Buffett-themed show

Posted

After 18 months of planning, the Jacksonville Symphony will debut its first world premiere pops program, “Parrots + Palms: The Songs of Buffett & Fins,” co-produced with Spot-On Entertainment, honoring the carefree, iconic music of Jimmy Buffett and “fins,” Bob Marley, Van Morrison, the Beach Boys and more.

Celebrated vocalists join the symphony to bring sun-kissed stories and laid-back hits to life, capturing the romance of the islands and the power of the surf. Grab a margarita and sing along to “Come Monday,” “Fins,” “Kokomo,” “Don’t Worry, Be Happy,” “It’s Five O’ Clock Somewhere,” “Brown-Eyed Girl” and many others.

Escape to the vibes and breeze of paradise inside Jacoby Symphony Hall. Island attire is encouraged.

Performances will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13, and Saturday, Sept. 14, at 300 Water St., Jacksonville.

Kevin Fitzgerald is conductor. Vocalists include Travis Birch, Chris Blem, Max Chernin, Spot-On Entertainment Founder Scott Coulter, Lisa Howard and John Boswell. Musicians from the Jacksonville Symphony will also perform.
