The Girl Scouts of Gateway Council (GSGC) is launching its fall recruitment campaign for new members.
The council currently serves more than 6,000 girls across 35 counties, and there’s always room for more girls to join. The organization is emphasizing reasons to join Girl Scouts during its 110th anniversary year:
“At GSGC, the girl experience is of utmost importance,” said Mary Charles, interim CEO, Girl Scouts of Gateway Council. “We celebrate what it means to be a girl and encourage girls to find their place in the world through avenues they may never have considered. We look forward to welcoming new girls to our council this fall and all year long.”
Recruitment efforts align with the return to school, encouraging girls to find out just who they are and what they want to be. Through programs like Sweets & Treats, an initiative underway now in which girls sell candy, nuts and other goods, girls learn entrepreneurship skills and build upon other pillars they’ve been exposed to throughout their tenure.
In addition, the council is looking for adult volunteers. This group makes up more than 4,000 members of the organization at present and helps lead the girls as troop leaders, outing chaperones and positive role models.
Girls can get involved for $25 for a full-year membership, which runs from Oct. 1, 2022, through Sept. 30, 2023.
